This is a rare understory palm from Vanuatu (Tanna and Anatom islands) where it grows in the underwood of the humid forests, mainly along the coasts. The Snakeskin palm in habitat grows to about twenty feet tall, but much smaller in cultivation, with a trunk a foot and a half in diameter and when young is very difficult to distinguish from the Caryota zebrina. The leaves of C. ophiopelis are less glossy, a lighter green and thinner or finer, the leaflets less diamond shaped than Zebrina and mature trees would be much smaller than Zebrina. It will tolerate no cold, needs filtered light or shade, rich soil and ample water.
Caryota ophiopellis is a monoecious, monocarpic species (it does fructify only once then dies). Quite rare in cultivation, it arouses an increasing interest due to the unusual and showy coloration, in particular in the young plants. It requires a tropical or humid subtropical climate, a shady position during the young stage, slightly shaded when adult, and draining soils, slightly acidic to neutral, maintained humid. The starch contained in the stem, extracted with a special procedure and cooked to prepare a sort of bread, is still now utilized by the local populations.

This is a semi-dwarf Thai mango used for eating green. It is also great for pickling. Fruit is medium-sized, sweet mangoes with minimal fiber. It is late season in Florida maturing from August to September.
This mango is originally known as Jin Huang, and is from Taiwan. It is a cross between Ivory and Keitt, producing enormous, very ornamental fruit. It has gone by multiple other names since being marketed commercially and introduced to other east Asian countries, including Golden Queen and Kiew Yai (in Thailand). Trees labelled Cat Saigon have also turned out to be Golden Queen.
They are oblong-sigmoid in shape, staying relatively green at maturity with some minimal pinkish blush at the top of sun exposed fruit in interior areas, while turning a more brilliant yellow/orange color towards the coast, weighing up to several pounds.
The flesh is firm, fiberless, and yellow. The flavor is good, of the Thai-class with typical sweetness and floral and honey notes, but with perhaps a little more depth to it than something like Nam Doc Mai or Keow Savoy.
The trees are moderately vigorous growers with vertical dense canopy. The foliage resembles that of Keitt but the flowers have superior anthracnose resistance.

Val Carrie mango (Valcarrie) is a Florida hybrid of Valencia Pride and Carrie, combining strong growth with excellent eating quality. It's considered a vigorous grower, leaning more toward the Valencia Pride side in tree habit. Manageable with pruning, best as a backyard tree with space.

This plant NEEDS light, if you do not give it enough light it may drop leaves or stop producing variegation. If grown indoors, use additional grow light for 10 hours a day. Water your plant whenever the soil feels dry to the touch. This handsome plant does not like wet feet so use your finger to make sure the soil is completely dry before offering moisture. Water thoroughly and then let the plant dry out again before it gets another drink.

This variety has velvety patterned ovate leaves which are light green in color with darker green stripes, like Zebra stripes. The underside of the leaves are purple and not always visible because leaves grow horizontally (although some will curve or grow more upright).

Our resident botanist/horticulturist, Mark Hooten, recently made and registered a unique Hibiscus hybrid which we at Top Tropicals are very happy to make available to the world. This is a first time offering anywhere!
This is an admittedly an unusual Hibiscus hybrid. It involves a parent species never before registered as being used as a parent for any Hibiscus hybrid in the past. In-fact, the International Hibiscus Society didn't even have a database for it, so it had to be added to their registry.
The hybrid involved taking the pollen of the spectacular H. schizopetalus from the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro (Coral Hibiscus), and using it for pollinating a flower of the rare, virtually unknown but elegant and tiny Madagascan H. grandidieri. This hybrid, which Mark Hooten registered under the name Fairy Dancer, was the result: "My knowledgeable, Hibiscus loving friends assure me that this is a most wonderful hybrid to come along for a very long time, and that I should be proud to offer it to the world."
This wonderful outcome was totally unexpected. The small, almost tiny, deeply lobed leaves unlike those of any other Hibiscus hybrid, resemble those of certain mulberries or figs. They grow from arching stems, from which a nearly constant display of bright red-fuscia flowers dangle on long, thread-like stems, making them appear suspended in air at a distance.

White Fig. Ficus virens found in India, southeast Asia, through Malaysia and into Northern Australia. It is locally known as Pilkhan or Manbornde. Like many figs, fruit are edible. This is a very massive tree in which the size of the crown can sometimes exceed the height of the tree. However, it will take many years and generations to grow to that size... It makes a great bonsai as most of the fig trees.
One of the most famous specimens of this tree is the Curtain Fig Tree of the Atherton Tableland, near Cairns, a popular tourist attraction.

Marble queen pothos is a variety of pothos with beautiful white and cream variegation. It is a beauty crowned with long cascading variegated vines of yellow, creamy white, and green leaves that are heart-shaped, begging for your attention. This one needs no royal treatment and is very easy to maintain. Similar to other types of pothos, the marble queen pothos grows well indoors. It prefers bright, indirect light, moist but well-draining soil, and average household temperatures and humidity.
The plant is said to bring good luck and prosperity in the house. It is also called devil's vine or devil's ivy because it is almost impossible to kill and it stays green even when kept in the dark. It is sometimes mistakenly labeled as a Philodendron in plant stores. It is commonly known as money plant in many parts of the Indian subcontinent.

Showy, variegated formThe Lucky Bamboo Plant which is an extremely popular houseplant and candidate for some aquariums, terrariums, and paluadariums. It is not actually closely related to bamboo grass, although its common name comes from its resemblance to bamboo grass. While not a true aquatic plant, the Lucky Bamboo Plant is extraordinarily popular and can often be applied to aquarium, terrarium, and paludarium setups! It should be positioned upright with its leaves clearly out of the water. There isn't really a well known reason for how this common name came about, although Dracaena sanderiana grows easily in water and the canes of the plant have a similar appearance to real bamboo stalks, it has no true connection with Japanese culture.
