Oro Negro means black gold in Spanish, which is an incredibly appropriate name for this fruit. It originates from Miami-Dade County, Florida and has great potential for dooryard or commercial use. It is likely a Monroe seedling having a similar shape and season, but probably crossed with a Mexican type which would explain the black skin. The flesh is rich and buttery with a creamy texture that is sure not to disappoint.

Grand Nain (often misspelled "Gran Nain") is one of the most productive and widely grown dessert bananas in the world. A member of the Cavendish group, it is prized for its vigorous growth, heavy yields, and delicious sweet fruit that resembles the familiar supermarket banana. Grand Nain is the true Chiquita banana, the main product of Chiquita Brands International. Tree is 8' when mature and produces large bunches of bananas.

Brownea grandiceps - Rose of Venezuela, Scarlet Flame Bean - small tree with spectacular red flowers. A true tropical, it requires frost-free environment with hight air humidity. The plant grows into a nice small size tree, with dense umbrella-like spreading canopy.
The flower lasts a few days, however the view is unforgettable.

Angel Trumpet - one of the most popular favorites for Southern gardens. Small tree or bush with trumpet-like fragrant flowers that change color from white (bud) through yellow to pink (mature). Fast growing and easy to grow.

Lady of the night. Medium size bush with large white or cream-colored flowers, which are very fragrant after dark. Shade tolerant plant, can be grown in container and as indoor plant. Can take some freeze for short time.

Caimito, Star Apple. Hard to find exotic fruit tree. It is a favorite in the Caribbean and Central America as well as Southeast Asia. The fruit has a mild grape-like flavor, and is best eaten fresh. Inside the fruit looks like a star when cut across.

Australian Tree fern - one of the most tropical looking plants. Adds "Hawaii" spirit to your garden. It puts on growth very quickly. The fronds typically will reach about 8' long on a mature specimen, but, as with most tree ferns, they will be significantly stunted if kept in a pot. It will grow well in dappled (but not deep) shade, but also does well in some sun, even in hot climates, as long as the moisture supply is adequate. Governors plum, Madagascar Plum, Batoko palm - is a tropical or subtropical small shrubby tree. It is cultivated in tropical regions as a hedge plant and for its deep red acid fruits resembling small plums. The fruits are about one inch wide and can be eaten fresh or made into preserves. They are sweet and sour, with a texture and flavor similar to a plum. Fruits mature after one to two months from flowering.
The tree is easy to grow, self-fertile and doesn't require much care, not fussy about soil and very forgiving if you forget to water it.
Seeds germinate readily, but it takes a while until the seedling is ready to be transplanted into a big pot or in the ground, a few months.

Colorful plant from South East Asia with variegated green and white leaves, with an irregular dull green pattern extending from the mid vein to almost the edge of the leaves. Evergreen tropical shrub to 6 feet, but can be kept to 3 feet as a greenhouse or indoor plant. Flowers are tubular, reddish-purple. Best with bright light and moist soil. Use in tropical landscape beds or in mixed containers. A lightly shaded position is ideal.

Red Chinese Lantern. A rare weeping Hibiscus from Africa. The flowers are rscarlet ed, single, and faced-down like "Chinese lanterns." Spondias mombin, or Spondias purpurea var. lutea. Yellow fruit. Very popular aromatic fruit.

'Mallika' is a condo mango native to India. It is considered among the best of the new generation of Indian dessert mangos. The bright yellow fruit are a flattened oblong shape, with a rounded base and an irregular, non-waxy skin, and weigh from 10 to 18 oz. When properly ripened, the pasty, but completely fiber-free flesh is a deep orange, with an intensely sweet, rich and highly aromatic flavor with hints of citrus and melon. Fruit are harvested mature-green, before they break color on the tree and should be stored at a temperature of not less than 70F for 2 to 3 weeks for proper ripening. In this manner their ultimate eating quality will be achieved. The fruit can be refrigerated after complete ripening, but not before. Although best consumed out-of-hand, 'Mallika' also excels in juices and as dehydrated slices, with a distinctive honey flavor. The fruiting season is from late June to July. The tree is semi-dwarf and moderately vigorous, making it attractive to mango growers outside of India, who are always looking for new niche markets around the world. It has become a favorite due to its superb flavor, unparalleled disease resistance, and small but extremely productive habit.

'Okrung' is an excellent Thai cultivar introduced to Florida in 1973. Thai-cultivar, green-yellow fruit eaten while green. The fruit is traditionally served in Thailand in combination with sticky rice. One of the most popular varieties in Thailand. The fruit is very sweet, with the highest sugar content of any mango tested in Florida. It has a strong Indo-Chinese flavor and is somewhat fibrous. The fruit are small, hand in clusters and drop off the tree when ripe.
