The perfect ever-bloom beneath your shade tree

Tabernaemontana divaricata - Pinwheel Jasmine in bloom

🎡 The perfect ever-bloom beneath your shade tree

Tabernaemontana divaricata, also known as Pinwheel Jasmine or Crape Jasmine, is in bloom virtually year around at Top Tropicals garden.

➕ It is a charming, low-maintenance shrub that thrives under taller trees, like palms or oaks. With glossy green leaves and delicate white, pinwheel-shaped flowers, it adds brightness and elegance to shaded spaces.

➕ Blooming year-round, Pinwheel Jasmine brings steady beauty to your garden and can even be trained into a small ornamental tree.

➕ While it loves bright light for the best floral show, it's surprisingly shade-tolerant - making it a go-to choice for under-tree planting.

Night jasmine that disappears with sunrise: Parijat

Nyctanthes arbor-tristis - Parijat, Night Jasmine, Sad Tree, Tree of Sorrow

💔 Night jasmine that disappears with sunrise: Parijat

💔 Nyctanthes arbor-tristis, Parijat, Night Jasmine, Sad Tree or Tree of Sorrow... What secret is hidden in this flower?

💔 Parijat is a small tree or shrub from South Asia known for its intensely perfumed white flowers with bright orange centers that open at dusk and fall by dawn.

💔 What is Parijat famous for?
Mostly for its scent and stories - but locals also use it in traditional remedies. The flowers are beloved in temple garlands and perfumery. Leaves, flowers, bark, and seeds are used in Ayurveda for treating fevers, sciatica, arthritis, and more. Extracts also show anti-inflammatory and liver-protective effects in modern studies.

💔 Why do people plant Parijat?
It’s both fragrant and spiritual. Parijat is sacred in Hindu myth - some say Krishna brought it from heaven, others that it sprang from a grieving princess’s ashes. People plant it near temples or in small gardens not just for the scent, but for its cultural symbolism and graceful beauty.

💔 Is Parijat easy to grow?
Yes - if your climate cooperates. Parijat grows up to 10 feet tall, handles full sun or light shade, and thrives in well-drained soil with regular, moderate watering. It blooms best with monthly fertilizer and tolerates light cold (into the 30s F). In cooler areas, grow it in a container. Regular pruning helps it stay compact and flower more.

How to make the best gift plant?

1. Consider her/his interests and environment: Think about the recipient's favorite colors, preferred growing conditions (e.g. sunlight, temperature), and any specific plants they already have and like.

2. Choose an easy plant, especially when giving it to inexperienced gardener. Desert roses, Plumerias, Indoor plants are great for both beginners and experts.

3. Something to enjoy right away: Select an established plant with developed roots and foliage. Grafted fruit trees will produce soon, and aroma of a spice tree can be appreciated without waiting for it to grow bigger. House plants such as Philodendrons with ornamental foliage will brighten the room.

4. Presentation matters: Wrap the plant in decorative paper or a gift bag, and consider adding a bow or tag for a personal touch.

5. Add a personal touch: Consider pairing the plant with a personalized message or a small item such as a watering can, plant food, or a pretty planter. Your thoughtfulness will make the gift even more special.

Some gift plant ideas: Jasmines - Desert Roses - Gingers - Mango - Avocado - Spice plants - Indoor plants - easy maintenance plants - Plants of Love: Aphrodisiacs.
