Dwarf Ylang-Ylang, small tree or shrub with highly scented flowers. This is one of the most desired and sought after rare fragrant plants. It is pretty easy to grow, stays compact and in nice tree-like shape. Flowers smell as great as full size Ylang Ylang tree, although sometimes fragrance may be less intense and requires warm and humid conditions for full aroma. The plant blooms year round providing warm conditions. It can be also grown as a container and a house plant, but keep in mind it requires bright light for profuse flowering.
This plant is seasonally sensitive: during cooler months leaves may drop or get yellow/dark spots. New leaves will regrow with warm temperatures (above 70F). It is still available for purchase but do not order if leaves appearance matters to you.

Surinam Cherry, Pitanga - vigorous and quick to fruit, often producing the same year or by the next. This plant is a seedling from Black Surinam Cherry Lolita, known for its very sweet, juicy fruit with no aftertaste. The fruit is relatively large at about 1-1.2 inches, starting red and turning deep black when fully ripe. In our garden, these seedlings have come true to seed with black fruit, though some reports suggest they may occasionally produce red fruit as well.
Pitanga is a reliable producer with an upright, freely branching growth habit. It is also quite cold hardy, tolerating short periods of frost. Once established, the plant can handle temperatures in the upper 20s without damage.

Tropical Guava Ruby Supreme. Considered by many to be one of the best guavas for the home garden. This highly productive cultivar produces pear-shaped, yellow skinned guavas with thick, pink flesh. Lower in pectin than other varieties, this variety is superior for eating out-of-hand or processing into juice. In spite of its common name, the tree is cold hardy for a tropical fruit. Very reliable, heavy producer. Will fruit in container.
Ruby Supreme and Barbie Pink guava are very similar, but Barbie pink is much larger and not as dark of a pink color.

Lobster Claw, Parrot's beak. One of the most recognized and widely grown species, and one of the most beautiful. The inflorescence it produces is one of the most colorful you will ever encounter. The flowers last a long time and make an excellent cut flower. It is an easy grower in tropical areas but some room is required because the stalks can reach 7 feet in height. It can withstand temperatures in the high 20s. Can be grown in large pots

Jaboticaba. One of the most popular native fruit of Brazil. Grape-like purple fruit with a thick skin and delicious melting pulp somewhat resembling Northern Black Currant in flavor. Small white flowers grow right on the trunk ("cauliflora" means "flowers growing on trunk). Trees grow very slowly and due to small leaves and dwarfish growth habit are often used as bonsai. Some old bonsai specimens can fruit.

Petrea volubilis - Queen's wreath, Sandpaper vine. A twining vine with rough green leaves and spectacular tall clusters of purple flowers. It likes warm and humid conditions. The flowers come in raceme reaching over 1 foot long, the flowers lasts a couple of days but the blue calices remain much longer, slowly turning gray.
