Tara Lay is a brand new variety just released! It's a Julie seedling, with an Indochinese flavor. The tree is of moderate vigor and a very heavy producer, fruits in Mid-Late season. The 12-20 oz fruit has no fiber and ripens with a reddish-yellow blush. The taste is mildly sweet with a fresh sugarcane flavor.
The story behind this mango is, this tree was planted in a community called Tara Estates and a hurricane had knocked the tree over to lay on its side... and the tree still produced fruit!
This mango had a very interesting kidney shape with a side beak on the bottom. When you cut the mango open it reveals a golden yellow flesh and gushes some thin juice. The flesh is fiberless and juicy with a slippery smooth consistency. The seed is monoembryonic.
