Sweet Mimosa. One of the most useful tropical plants that is very cold tolerant, blooms all winter through spring with honey-fragrant flowers - canary yellow powder puffs, attracting bees and butterflies. This is a large size, multi-stem thorny shrub 15x15 ft that requires some space. It is very fast growing, can be used as a good screen plant. It will bring you joy with pretty flowers and sweet fragrance even during freeze snaps when other trees lose leaves and suffer. This one will continue blooming and stays evergreen - a real survivor! Tolerates poor soils and drought too. Provide regular water to establish quicker.

Black stems and veins adorn this extraordinary form of Alocasia macrorrhiza. This very rare and unusual elephant ear is quite different from the typical. The huge thick sculpted forest green leaves with are held upright on dramatically rigid black stems. Reaching a mature height of 4-5 ft, it loves high light with only moderate shade. Amorphophallus konjac is one of the largest flowers, a perennial exotic Asian plant. It grows a single, elongated center called a corm and a single large leaf that wraps around it. The corm is the part of the plant that is used, as well as its tuber, which is commonly called the konnyaku potato. It is one of the most exotic, bizarre flowers. Can be easily grown in a pot as a house plant. The single leaf dormant in winter, then in spring the plant shoots out a fantastic flower. See picture of a flowering plant.
This plant is dormant from Fall through Winter, shipped as tuber, keep on dry side until it grows back its leaves in Spring.

Atemoya (grafted var. Priestly), Hybrid Custard Apple. This cultivar produces large, green fruits with a creamy texture and uniquely sweet flavor. It is a grafted variety that combines desirable traits from both parent species, making it a delightful addition to home gardens.
Atemoya is much hardier than common Sugar Apple, and at the same time can tolerate tropical heat unlike Cherimola which requires cooler summers. It makes Atemoya an excellent choice for subtropical and tropical garden. Can tolerate light freeze. The tree growing to about twenty-five feet at maturity with about the same spread. Atemoyas have fewer seeds than Sugar Apple, which makes them a lot easier to eat as a fresh fruit.

Soncoya, Toreta, Ilama. Medium-sized tree with a trunk that usually branches fairly low. The fruit pulp is very good but not marketed. In Colombia, the pulp is eaten raw or is strained for juice, drunk as a beverage or folk remedy. In Mexico, Soncoya juice is regarded as a remedy for fever and chills.

This rare Annona is a species originally brought to us from Costa Rica. We believe it to be a natural hybrid between A. muricata and A. glabra. It is a very ornamental, evergreen, small to medium size tree with waxy, large 4-6 inch leaves, similar to A. muricata, A. montana or Rollinia. Fast growing, forms nice bushy specimen. Flowers are very similar to A. muricata.
It has a large, up to 1 lb fruit, green when unripe, sometimes with gray to brown spots, turning dark yellow to orange on ripening. The pulp is golden to orange when ripe, with strong Pineapple scent, and resembling Jackfruit in texture. Flavor is like the custard apple but with pineapple, papaya, apricot and melon overtones. Note that some people dislike the taste, others find it good.

Golden shower tree, Indian Laburnum - To many tropical gardeners, the most beautiful of cassias is Cassia fistula. This is a medium to large tree with ovate, pointed leaflets; when these drop, usually in the dry season, masses of bright gold flower clusters appear on almost every branch.
