Nong Nooch is about 8 miles from South Pattaya and is one of the most attractive tourist resorts in the province. The entire area of over 500 acres is beautifully landscaped, with several botanical gardens. It is a Thai village style with recreation - vacation park. There are also cultural and traditional performances and an elephant show three times a day at the Thai Cultural Center, they feature martial arts, indigenous sports, hill tribe music and dance, a Thai wedding ceremony, a Buddhist ordination ceremony, and performances by trained elephants. At the small zoo you can have your picture taken with a baby tiger, elephant, chimpanzee or parrot, and there is also a small exhibition of Thai antiques. Visitors have a choice of restaurants where traditional Thai food, including special recipes from northeastern thailand, as well as Chinese, Korean and western dishes can be enjoyed. A shopping mall sells souvenirs and handicrafts from all over the kingdom.

The Tropical Garden has 2 man-made lakes with swan boat rides and exquisitely manicured gardens, including:

  • Numerous flower beds
  • The butterfly house
  • The butterfly hill created out of 50,000 flowers
  • The Hortus Botanicus, classified plants
  • Huge collection of Palms and Cycads
  • A collection of Bromeliads,
  • Gardens of Wrightia Tomentosa
  • A French style garden
  • The Stonehenge stone circle
  • The clay pots display garden
  • The clay pottery factory
  • A hothouse for orchids and ferns and Orchid display garden,
  • Statues of mythical characters of Thai literature
  • Bonsai garden
  • Heliconia garden
  • Cactus conservatory

We haven't been able to walk through all the displays since we had only 6 hours spent in Pattaya, while this place required probably 2-3 days (or better a week!) to see all the fun! Our first interest was to see the selection of flowering plants, and we were impressed by the amazing collection of blooming vines and tropical trees. Some of the photos will be presented in the last section of this tour: More plant photos.
