What is number one tree-grown vegetable?

Akee fruit, Ackee

What is number one tree-grown vegetable? Akee is a curious Jamaican fruit that is actually a vegetable growing on a tree! The fruit makes a delicious nutritious meal tasting like eggs and potatoes
  • 🔺This showy fruit is a close relative of Lychee, Longan, and Rambutan.
  • 🔺 Akee tree is easy to grow, undemanding, fast growing, and fruits right away. Sometimes it fruits twice a year!
  • 🔺 Akee fruit must be picked after the fruit has opened naturally so the flesh is fully exposed to light.
  • 🔺 The white arils are best parboiled for a few min and then lightly fried in butter. Then they are really delicious!

One fruit on this tray always stumps people

Tropical fruit on a tray

One fruit on this tray always stumps people

  • 🍉 Another day, another fruit tray from the garden! Even at the end of November, something is always ripening here in Florida. This tray turned out especially fun - a mix of familiar fruits and a couple that always make people guess twice!
  • 🍉 Today’s harvest includes: sweet Persimmons, Star fruit, a few different dragon fruits: yellow Palora and white with red skin - this is Seoul Kitchen. There's also Cocoplum, which makes great drinks. And - ta-da! - the little showstopper of the day: Curly Locks Orchid Cactus fruit (Epiphyllum guatemalense Monstrosa). It looks wild, but it's edible and tastes like a tiny dragon fruit.
  • 🍉 If you live in Florida or any warm climate, growing your own fruit is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Tropical fruit trees are generous plants - they don’t wait for a season, they give you something month after month. Some days it’s a handful, some days it’s a whole tray, but there’s always a fresh treat waiting. Once you start growing your own food, you realize how easy and rewarding it is to fill your garden with flavor.
  • 🍉 Every tray has a new surprise. Come along and see what the garden gives us next!

What is the biggest mango fruit?

Mango Kiew Yai

🥭 What is the biggest mango fruit?

🔍 We discovered one of the biggest Mango fruit after we planted this new variety - Kiew Yai.

Right now the fruit is almost a foot long!

⏳ The tree was planted in April - only 3 months ago.

😋 Looking forward to tasting it soon and sharing our taste impressions with you. Stay with us!

⬆️ Reminder: In order to have good quality fruit, your Mango tree must be grafted. Grafted varieties start fruiting right away, while seedlings may take from 7 to 10 years to fruit and the taste of the seedling's fruit will always be a surprise, they may be small in size and very fibrous.

Wise Mango - a smart choice for flavor lovers: sweet, juicy, and Florida-tough

Mango Wise tree with fruit on it

🌈 Wise Mango - a smart choice for flavor lovers: sweet, juicy, and Florida-tough.

🥭 Mango Wise is a forgotten gem from the golden age of mango breeding in South Florida. Originating in Miami during the post-1930s boom of cultivar development, it was once part of a wave of exciting new introductions. Over time, many of these excellent varieties faded from commercial propagation, despite having outstanding eating qualities. Wise stands out with its nearly round fruit, minimal to no fiber, and rich, juicy sweetness. It's a smart, flavorful choice that deserves a comeback in Florida gardens.
