This very different dwarf palm from South America, has attractive spines all over it and fabulous, gracefully arching leaves, covered with white powder, with long, wavy, closely- spaced leaflets. The fragrant flowers produce clusters of red fruit making it ideal for conservatory or a warmer garden where it can actually stand occasional, but not hard freezing. A solitary, showy spiny small tree. In the wild it grows 9-15 feet tall with a stem diameter of 2-4 inches. The epicarp and mesocarp of the fruit are rich in carotene and are eaten in Colombia, while the seeds are eaten raw or used to make candles.

Double Red is a classic tropical hibiscus known for its rich, velvety red flowers and continuous bloom. Each blossom is fully double, made up of many overlapping petals that form a lush, ruffled bloom about 4 inches across. The deep red color stays consistent even in full sun, creating a striking display against the glossy green foliage.
This variety is one of the most dependable and easy-to-grow tropical hibiscus types. It flowers freely through the warm months and can bloom almost year-round in frost-free climates. Like most hibiscus, each individual bloom lasts only a day, but new buds open daily, keeping the shrub in near-constant color.
Double Red grows into a dense, rounded shrub about 4-6 ft tall and 3-4 ft wide. It's ideal for hedges, accents, or large containers on patios and pool decks. Plants perform best in full sun with regular watering and rich, well-drained soil. Feed monthly during the growing season to encourage continuous flowering.
This time-tested hibiscus is a true garden classic, combining vivid color, strong growth, and reliable performance. Its full, double blooms and intense red tone make it one of the most popular hibiscus varieties ever introduced.
In TopTropicals garden this variety showed pretty strong cold tolerance (at least to light freeze) similar to cold hardy H. syriacus. It is often referred to as H. Althea, H. Amplissimus (referring to double flower), and Double Rose of Sharon. This variety is also known under names: Red Hot, President, Red Dragon, Super Red.

Although often mistaken as a Hawaiian variety, White Jade actually originated in Eleuthera, Bahamas. Carambola (Starfruit) var Arkin. One of the leading commercial cultivars with 4-5" long fruit with small wings. Bright yellow to yellow-orange skin and flesh. Flesh is firm, very sweet, and juicy with few seeds.
Small symmetrical tree. Fruits very prolifically. Fruit is star-shaped when cut across the middle. It has a sweet, watery, slightly acid, pleasant tasting pulp. Eaten fresh, in salads, as garnishes, in drinks or preserved. Mature trees may survive light frost but young trees must be protected from frost and especially - wind. The plant will fruit in container even when in small size (2-3 ft). Season: August - March.

Mexican Bird of Paradise (Dwarf poinciana)- a showy shrub with fragrant flowers for a small yard or container. Drought tolerant, cold hardy to light freeze.
Plant seeds in 1/2" depth of well drained soil mix. Keep warm, damp and in bright light.

Weeping red Bottlebrush. Callistemon citrinus (Melaleuca citrina). Medium size tree with arching or weeping stems and showy bright red flowers. Cold tolerant, drought resistant. Fast growing, great solution for privacy planting.

Giant granadilla. Fast growing vine which can grow over 50ft in a single season. Fruit forms best after self-pollination. Fruit is eaten fresh or used in drinks. The unripe, green fruit is eaten as a vegetable.
Cover seeds with 1/2" well-drained soil mix, keep warm, damp (not wet) and in bright light.

Sapodilla Oxkutzcab (or Ox) - "gigantic sapodilla" - is originally from Oxkutzcab (Yucatan). Extremely large (up to 28 oz), roundish fruit with speckled, light-colored skin. Flesh is brown, with excellent taste. Heavily productive tree. Producing heavy crops from May to September.

Jamaica Tea flower (Karkade, Roselle) - "Agua de Flor de Jamaica", also called agua de Jamaica and rosa de Jamaica, is popular in Jamaica, Mexico, Central America, and parts of South America and the Caribbean. It is one of beverages made from fresh juices or extracts. It is served chilled, and in Jamaica this drink is a tradition on Christmas, served with fruit cake or potato pudding.
In Panama both the flowers and the drink are called saril (a derivative of the Jamaican word sorrel).
In the United States, hibiscus tea was popularized as "Red Zinger". Flowers are used to make a cold or hot tea sweetened with sugar. There has been some Medical studies which indicate that it lowers high blood pressure and also has diuretic effects. The flavor is on the tart side similar to a cranberry juice. In Mexico, it is also used for granites, ice pops and sangria.

Cotton Candy - Mallow Hibiscus flowers open pure white and change color over a three-day period until they are deep pink and then as they die assume a dark "blue-pink" hue. The three distinct colors appear on the bush simultaneously as the blooms color cycle independent of one another. Quite large blossoms are up to 5 inches across!

Olive variety Arbequina, self-pollinating, adapts well to subtropical conditions (for example, Central and South-West Florida). This is the one of most useful trees in the world - Olive tree, originated in Mediterranean. Slow growing trees are extremely long-lived and tolerant of drought, salinity and almost total neglect, and so have been reliable producers of food and oil for thousands of years.

Produces wonderful tasting fruit as does the others in the Cavendish sub-group. A vigorous grower with wide green leaves. One of the more common grown varieties in the USA. This particular cultivar has found great flavor in Florida as a backyard banana because of its ability to reliably produce fruit with a minimum of care by the homeowner. Cavendish are the most common variety of bananas grown by the hobbyist. The variety is very hardy and produces very large heads of fruit. The dwarf variety, which grows to 8 feet, is the most common backyard variety. The fruit is excellent tasting and can remain on the plant until ripe.

Alampur Baneshan is a classic South Indian dessert mango prized for its bold, complex flavor and excellent eating quality. Low-Chill Peach. Medium to large size round fruit, red outside / yellow inside. It requires about 150 of chill hours. Perfect for lower Zone 9. Firm flesh, excellent flavor, ripens mid-May. Self-pollinating.

Peach tree UF One (UF Sun) is very low-chill Peach. Needs only 100-150 chill-hours, so it can be grown in zone 10. Fruit are medium-large, and the trees regularly bear large crops of marketable fruit. UFOne fruits are very firm with yellow flesh and semi-clingstone pits. Early season peach designed to flourish in warm climates. Red-yellow skin with very sweet yellow flesh. Ripens early-May. Self-pollinating.

Medinilla has bright pink flowers and can be grown as a small shrub or a potted plant. Very tropical-looking exotic plant.

Low-chill Peach. Needs only 200 chill hours. Red-yellow skin with very sweet non-melting yellow flesh. Ripens mid-May. Self-pollinating.

Lady of the night. Medium size bush with large white or cream-colored flowers, which are very fragrant after dark. Shade tolerant plant, can be grown in container and as indoor plant. Can take some freeze for short time.

Tropical Barbie Pink. Considered by many to be one of the best guavas for the home garden. This highly productive cultivar produces pear-shaped, yellow skinned guavas with thick, pink flesh. Lower in pectin than other varieties, this variety is superior for eating out-of-hand or processing into juice. In spite of its common name, the tree is cold hardy for a tropical fruit. Very reliable, heavy producer. Will fruit in container.
Ruby Supreme and Barbie Pink guava are very similar, but Barbie pink is much larger and not as dark of a pink color.
