Flowering shrub that has had a recent name change. It was formerly known as Hibiscus hamabo. It is evergreen and grows 6 to 10 feet tall. This shrub bears 2- to 3-inch yellow flowers in summer. The flowers have a crimson spot at the base. T. hamabo is fast growing and fairly drought tolerant once established. It needs full sun for best flowering. It is native to the southern part of South Korea and southern Japan and is hardy in Zones 8-11.
