Barometer bush, Purple sage. Drought-tolerant shrub with silvery, feltlike leaves; flowers in summer are pale-bluish or lavender. It is one tough plant, can face droughts, freezes, high winds, salt spray, hungry deer, and blazing heat and keep right on performing beautifully. It is called Barometer bush because flowering is triggered by humidity or high soil moisture after rains.
