The ESALQ Red Jaboticaba is a rare and exotic fruit tree originating from Brazil, named after the prestigious Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ), University of Sao Paulo. This tropical fruit tree was extensively studied by the renowned botanist Joao Rodrigues de Mattos in the 1970s, and it is recognized for its large, and exceptionally sweet, flavorful fruit. It begins to bear fruit within 4 to 5 years.

Grimal Jaboticaba - Peluda de Alagoas. Rare Jaboticaba introduced by Adolf Grimal. Sometimes known as the Giant Jaboticaba, it bears fruits that are larger than many Jaboticaba varieties. Has larger fruits with thick pulp and small seeds. Also notable that the fruits are mildly hairy and foliage may show a similar appearance. The trees are heavy producers, and will begin fruiting in 5 years. The tree fruits year round producing a lot of fruit.

Jaboticaba. One of the most popular native fruit of Brazil. Grape-like purple fruit with a thick skin and delicious melting pulp somewhat resembling Northern Black Currant in flavor. Small white flowers grow right on the trunk ("cauliflora" means "flowers growing on trunk). Trees grow very slowly and due to small leaves and dwarfish growth habit are often used as bonsai. Some old bonsai specimens can fruit.

Jaboticaba. Slow growing plant. The trees are large, bushy and mature (7 years old and older).

This rare variety of Jaboticaba is used for production of Hawaiian wine Volcano Red. Hawaiians have long honored Pele, the fiery goddess of the volcano and created a wine to honor her tempestuous, passionate spirit. Volcano Red is a medium bodied red wine that blends both red and white grapes with the island's exotic jaboticaba berries.
Red Jaboticaba Vine is also popular in Brazil as La Vinotinto.
This variety is more vigorous and faster growing than regular Jaboticaba. Leaves are slightly bigger. The plant can take light freeze once established, and short periods of waterlogging.

Cantelope is the darkest but semi-soft (more firm than black gold). It is rounded and usually weighs about 20lbs. This is a good fruit variety to dehydrate, because the arils lay flat on the tray and the chips are like pure sugar. Also has low latex.

Jackfruit (Jakfruit) Crispy. It is relatively low latex, crispy but not too crunchy, thick fleshed and very juicy. Will fruit in 2-3 years in optimal conditions.

This variety features are described by its name: it has a smaller 8-10" fruit that weighs 4-6 pounds, and the tree has a dwarf habit. It is a perfect Jackfruit for container culture.
The fruit is sweet and aromatic and has very little latex which makes it easy to handle when opening the fruit.

Golden Pillow (Mong Tong) Jackfruit (Jakfruit) originated in Thailand. Considered one of the best Thai cultivars. The tree is small and easy manageable at a height of 8-10 ft. The fruit has blocky shape, weighting 8-10 lb. It has golden color with fleshy spines, which flatten and open as fruit matures. The golden color flesh is thick and crunchy. The flavor is mild and sweet with musky aftertaste.

Jackfruit J-31. Open, spreading, fast growth habit. Often off-season fruit; tree easily pruned to maintain small tree (~8 ft). Deep yellow fruit that is firm. Sweet rich flavor, earthy aroma. Fruit rarely splits and has excellent texture.

Jackfruit (Jakfruit) Lemon Crunch. It is relatively low latex, but not latex free. Crispy but not too crunchy, thick fleshed and very juicy. The flavor has a nice sweet and lemony character. Will fruit in 2-3 years in optimal conditions.

Thai Globe (Kun Wi Chan) jakfruit (jackfruit) originated in Thailand.
Vigorous tree; annual pruning needed to maintain moderate size. The tree is a very heavy producer. Fruits are very large and have round shape. Fruit weight is 35-45lb. Moderately firm to soft yellow flesh has mild, pleasant flavor.

South African Jasmine. Star-shaped, fragrant 1 inch flowers in summer. Three-part dark green glossy leaves, vining stems. Evergreen woody scandent shrub to train up a wall or as a wall shrub in a conservatory. Small lanceolate leaves in groups of three, summer flowers are fragrant, simple star shaped, white and held on the plant in vertical groups.

Rose Bud Jasmine, Everblooming Jasmine - a very rare jasmine with highly fragrant flowers. Blooms year round. Glossy leaves are very ornamental in contrast with dark pink buds and snow white flowers. This is a very vigorous plant that can cover a fence or pagoda in no time.

Italian jasmine. Jasmine oil is extracted from the flowers and is imported from India. It has a rich, warm, sweet scent. It is a middle note in perfumery.

Japanese Jasmine, Primrose Jasmine - very unusual jasmine with bright yellow double flowers. This is one of the most valuable plants in landscaping. It grows wonderfully in mass plantings, very fast growing, well-contollable by pruning. The more you cut it, the bushier it gets, forming a nice dense cloud of dark green foliage with yellow double flowers scattered like a bright cover. Use it mass plantings, as a small hedge or to trail over fences or walls, to cover unwanted views and ugly corners.

Jasmine Molle, Indian Jui - one of the strongest fragrance of all jasmines. Grows into a large multi-stem bush, or can be planted against trellis or fence. Can be trimmed for compact shape, nice container plant. Flowers have extremely heavy gardenia type scent.
One of the most powerfully fragrant jasmines, Jasminum molle produces clusters of satin-white blooms with an intense gardenia-like scent. This rare, fast-growing shrub can be grown in pots, as a hedge, or shaped into a compact bush. Blooms appear in summer with additional flushes in fall and winter. Easy to grow in sun or shade, and tolerant of both moist and dry conditions. Sacred in India, its flowers are used in garlands, religious offerings, and perfumes. A must-have for any fragrant garden.

Angel Hair Jasmine. Bushy dense vining shrub with star-like white fragrant flowers and soft velvet leaves. Very fast growing, great for hedges.

Jasminum sambac Arabian Knights (Arabian Nights). Rare variety of Jasmine Sambac with small double flowers and vining habit. Slow, compact grower.

Jasmine sambac Grand Duke - The biggest flower variety, the Grandest of all Jasminum sambac. Flowers are 1-1.5 inch wide, triple, like little carnations. Blooms profusely from April through June, then sporadically during the year. Dark green leaves are very ornamental. This variety grows as a medium size bush, very slow growing. Trim regularly otherwise it may become leggy. Tolerates shade, great container plant, can be grown as indoor plant too, providing enough light. The more light, the more flowers you will get. Keep somewhat on dry side: sambacs don't like too much water and bloom better in dry conditions. If grown indoors, watch for insects (spider mites). Fertilize once a month during warm season.
