Canistel, Eggfruit. Easy to grow, sweet exotic fruit. Trompo is the Florida canistel variety, one of the best. Large size pointed shape fruit, weighs 8-15 oz. The pulp is moist. The tree is a heavy producer.
During World War II, British pilots and crewmen were under training in the Bahamas and showed a great fondness for this special fruit, they bought all they could find in the market.
