🟣 Garlic vine (Mansoa alliacea) is one of the most wanted flowering tropical vines.
🟣 When in full bloom, it looks like a cascade of blue-purple over a fence or trellis.
🟣 The fun part is, crushed leaves smell like garlic, which will keep away the vampires and bad luck!
🟣 Deep lavender flowers with white throat fading to a paler lavender within a few days, and you can see all three colors on the plant at the same time.
🟣 Garlic vine has moderate growth rate and can stay compact in a pot as a specimen, and even can be grown as a house plant.

Flowers look like parachutes, with lacy petals bent backward. The petals are thin and elongated, resembling the intricate structure of a skeleton or bones! 💀

♦️ When the flowers bloom, they create a beautiful, ethereal effect, which has led to the association with the term "skeleton." This unique characteristic sets it apart from other hibiscus varieties, hence the distinctive moniker.
♦️ Spectacular weeping tree shape, it has slender and gracefully curved stems.

Leonotis leonurus is another Nature's Wonder. Flower petals purportedly resemble Lion's ears, and bunch of upper leaves from a distance resemble Lions tails. A curious thing, the plant continues growing through the flower! This creates a multi-level appearance.

While traveling through the vibrant and diverse Caribbean, we acquired three exquisite local paintings rendered on jacaranda wood plates and a calabash. These pieces of art celebrate the three most spectacular and revered flowering trees of the Tropics:

🌸 This remarkable caudiciform Morning Glory - Ipomoea platensis - is native to arid regions of Argentina.
🌸 This is a showy flowering vine growing from a large caudex! The caudex can be of some weird shapes and forms. Some old lady once said "it's a dog poo plant!"
🌸 Similar to Desert roses (Adeniums), it grows caudex for water storage to survive extended drought periods.
🌸 Caudex grows over 2 ft! Vines reach over 12 ft, covered with beautiful bell-shaped pink flowers.
🌸 Can be kept as a bonsai in a pot, easy to control as a container specimen with trellis or pruning.
🌸 Although it doesn't mind dry conditions, the plant benefits from regular watering and good drainage, then it grows fast.
🌸 This is one of our favorite plants, easy to grow, makes a great conversation piece. It is a perfect for bonsai

🔴 You may have tried a Dragon fruit from the store l, but do you know how it grows? On a cactus tree!
🔴 Names: varieties of Hylocereus and Selenicereus - these fruit bearing cactus plants are also called Dragon Fruit or Pitaya.
🔴 Commercially grown fruit sold in a grocery store may be tasteless. You need to grow your own good variety to have tasty, sweet, flavorful fruit!
🔴 Dragon fruit comes in many varieties. Colors of flesh differ: white, pink, dark red and even purple. The outside of the fruit can be red/pink or yellow.
🔴 In commercial groves, Pitayas grow like cactus trees, over a strong support - big "umbrella frames" ☂️
🔴 It is an easy plant, with low water needs, takes both sun and semi-shade.
🔴 Our favorite variety is Yellow Dragon Fruit Palora, (Selenicereus megalanthus). It is the sweetest and has the most flavor of all. We shared some recipes earlier.
🔴 Can be grown in container with a wooden trellis. And the flower is beautiful, too!
