Caimito, Star Apple - Variety from Hawaii, with green fruit, better quality than more common purple variety. Hard to find exotic fruit tree. It is a favorite in the Caribbean and Central America as well as Southeast Asia. The fruit has a mild grape-like flavor, and is best eaten fresh. Inside the fruit looks like a star when cut across.

This is a late fruit that has been around for a while, since the 1900 Originated in what is now Kampong Botanical Garden in Coconot Grove, Miami, Florida. Costus fissiligulatus is an amazing new Costus from Gabon in West Africa. It has a dazzling pink trumpet flower with a yellow throat.
