Water chestnut features a rosette of floating leaves. Leaves are triangular in shape and strongly toothed. Small four-petaled flowers give way to the nut-like fruit. It forms dense floating mats, often three layers deep, that restrict light availability, reduce the oxygen content, and displace other emergent and floating vegetation. It is frequently cultivated in Asia and elsewhere where the fruit is eaten. Aquarium Plant.
