Small dense evergreen tree. Clusters of white flowers, slightly fragrant. Blooms most of the year, prufusely at times. Followed by production of small black fruits. Tolerant to most soil types, salt tolerant. Cold hardy to low 30F.

In some sources Kopsia pruniformis is indicated as synonim of Kopsia arborea.
