Low-growing and compact, this shrub combines lush green foliage and unique spikes of reddish-orange flowers. It has large, oval and slightly pubescent leaves. The unusual flower clusters consist of tubular flowers stacked between large, reddish, triangular bracts. It thrives in filtered sun locations, such as under the open canopies, and retains its compact form even in shady exposures. It has a long flowering season and is relatively drought tolerant.
