Daily Cat Lesson: Hungry

🐾 Daily Cat Lesson: Hungry... or Just an Opportunist? 🍽

Matilda has finished her food.
Niki still has some.
Therefore, according to Matilda, there is still food that needs to be eaten.

🐾 Did you know cats are built for many small meals?

Cats evolved hunting small prey, so eating several little meals throughout the day comes naturally. For a food-obsessed cat, splitting the daily ration into smaller meals can satisfy the urge to eat more often without adding extra calories.

🐾 But is your cat actually hungry?

Not necessarily. Cats quickly learn when and where food becomes available. An unattended bowl, another cat walking away, the sound of a package opening - opportunity detected.

This matters in multi-cat homes. One cat may eat the correct portion, then quietly finish everyone else's.
So sometimes "I'm starving!" really means:
"I noticed food nobody is currently guarding."
