Senegalia nigrescens, commonly known as Knob Thorn, is an evergreen deciduous tree, with an average height of 10-20 ft. Native to tropical and subtropical regions, this small tree can also be used for bonsai. It has sharp, recurved thorns, up to 8 inches long, dispersed irregularly on the branches and spine. It produces off-white, white or yellowish flowers, that appear in elongated spikes before the new leaves.

Senegalia nigrescens is moderately resistant to drought and can tolerate aridity and dry conditions, although it needs moderate irrigation. It thrives in USDA Zones 9-11. In colder regions, it's best to keep it in a pot and move it indoors when temperatures are low. For pot-growing, place the plant in well-draining soil and use a fertilizer every few weeks. It's important to keep the soil damp but not too wet, as this can lead to root rot. The Senegalia nigrescens should be exposed to plenty of bright, indirect sunlight and pruned regularly to promote growth and shape.
