This Pandanus originated from John G. Veitch's travels to the Pacific Rim area in the mid 1860's, where he also collected many historic Cordyline and Codiaeum varieties. It was collected somewhere near the island of Amboin where an historic battle between the Japanese and the Australian's took place.

Pandanus veitchii used to be a relatively commonly grown houseplant many decades ago, both in the U.S., and Europe. Its ability to thrive in less than perfect indoor gardens makes it a wonderful addition for the home or office. It is simply a spectacular and easily grown tropical treasure which can bring a touch of South Seas Indonesia within reach of anyone with such a desire.
