Callistemon 'Kings Park Special' is a large shrub that grows to 5-10ft tall with a similar spread. In warmer climates, this species can grow into a small tree up to 20ft in height. It prefers full sun, moderate water and can tolerate temperatures down to 40F.

This attractive evergreen produces an abundance of red, crimson or vinous-colored, bottlebrush-style flowers from late spring to summer. These are followed by an array of attractive, light-green fruits that are attractive to birds. In addition, the vibrant blooms attract butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden.

This species can be grown in USDA Zones 9-11, either in the ground or in containers. To grow in cold regions, it should be kept in a container and brought in over winter to protect it from frost. For best results, plant in a well-drained soil with plenty of water during the summer months and a moderate water usage during winter. Feed in spring and autumn with a slow-release fertilizer. Cut back to encourage new shoots. Prune lightly after flowering to keep the shrub neat and attractive.
