Evergreen shrub, 6 to 10 feet tall (1.8-3 m); opposite sessile, ovate to oblong leaves with wavy margins. Reddish orange tubular flowers with yellow throats in summer to fall. This plant is a great butterfly attractor, blooms most of the year, most profusely from spring to fall. Inspite of the name, the flowers are not very fragrant. The most fragrant part of the plant is a root.
