Nemesia strumosa is a small, bushy groundcover or low-growing shrub that can reach 2ft tall, with a maximum height of 5ft. It is native to South Africa and is hardy in USDA Zones 9-11. It is an easy to grow and care for plant, requiring full sun and regular water. It will flourish all summer long with its brightly colored flowers that come in shades of pink, white, off-white, blue, lavender, purple, red, crimson, vinous, yellow and orange. Even more impressive is that this plant attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.

The Nemesia is easy to care for and ideal for gardeners of all levels of experience. It can be grown in the ground or in pots, and it can tolerate short intervals of drought once established. Nemesia should be grown in areas with cooler weather, as it does not tolerate extreme heat. In cold regions, Nemesia should be grown in pots, and brought in for the winter. If grown in a pot, the pot must be well-draining, as the plant will suffer if it sits in wet soil. The pot should be kept watered but not overly wet. In mild winters, such as in zones 9-10, the plant can be left outside and mulched to protect it from the colder temperatures.
