Habenaria myriotricha is a rare and striking orchid native to Southeast Asia (Thailand, Laos, Vietnam).
It grows in moist tropical forests at elevations of 300-1200 meters. Prefers partial shade and well-drained, humus-rich soil. It has a dormant period in winter and active growth during summer. Blooms in autumn.
The flowers have long, thread-like petals resembling fireworks or Medusa's hair. They are mostly white with a touch of pink at the center.
Can be grown as a potted orchid in USDA zones 10-11, in greenhouses or indoors. Key growing conditions include:
- warm temperatures (75-85F during the day, no lower than 55F at night),
- high humidity (60-80%),
- bright, indirect light (avoid direct sun),
- a dry rest period in winter.
- Best suited for collectors and experienced orchid growers.
