Growing and Plant Care: Gossypium sturtianum (Sturt's Desert Rose) is a small shrub that grows between 2-5 feet in height. This species prefers full sun and should be watered moderately, making sure not to overwater. To keep the plant healthy, it must not sit in water-filled saucers for long periods of time. Pink flowers can be seen for most of the year, with a peak in late winter.
Grown in USDA Zone: 9-11. In colder regions the plant is best grown in a pot, as it is highly frost sensitive. To grow the plant in colder climates, make sure it receives adequate air circulation to prevent fungal diseases. Keeping the plant in a sunny and well-drained spot is ideal, however, if possible, place it in a sheltered position and ensure the location is frost-proof. Use a light and well-draining potting mix, and avoid overwatering.
