The genus Paraphalaenopsis consisting of 4 species endemic to Borneo and one natural (unconfirmed) hybrid, Paraphalaenopsis × thorntonii (P. denevei × P. serpentilingua).
They are morphologically similar to Phalaenopsis and were a long time considered as species of that genus. The distinguishing feature of this small genus is the terete, cylindrical leaves which lead to the genus becoming popularly known as the 'rat-tailed' phalaenopsis.
Best in baskets or mounted since plants tend to become pendent with age.
