Deciduous caudiciform vine. The caudex can grow to 20 centimetres, the vines can reach two metres. The flowers are 1 inch in diameter (2.5 cm) brown and, as many other asclepiads that use flies as pollinators, smelling like carrion.

Regular water when in leaf, very little water for the several months it is dormant.
