The sand ginger shrub prefers to thrive in warm, moist climates, in regions such as USDA Zones 8 to 11. This plant enjoys partial to full shade, so it is not recommended for full-sun locations. When supplying light to the shrub, it is best to provide it with bright indirect sunlight. For growing Kaempferia galanga in colder regions, it is suggested to keep it as a houseplant in a pot that can be moved indoors and placed in front of a window.
