Jasminum nudiflorum (Winter jasmine) is a native plant to India with delightful yellow and orange flowers that are highly fragrant. This deciduous vine or creeper needs full sun or semi-shade and regular water to keep it healthy and to encourage blooming. The flowers will attract butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden and as the plant matures, it becomes cold hardy at least to 30s, F for a short time.

It is best grown in a pot in cold regions and can be planted in USDA Zones 6 -10. When planting this vine, it is important to give it a support structure like wires or a trellis because it is not self-clinging. The flowers appear in January to March while the leaves are still unfolding. The solitary flowers measure one inch long and have a cheery yellow color.

Regular watering is key to keeping this plant healthy. Ensure that the soil is kept moist and that you apply a balanced fertilizer during the summer months. To encourage more blooming, prune the plant after flowering. You can also prune during winter to shape the plant and reduce its size.
