Jasminum multiflorum, also known as the Downy Jasmine, is a spreading shrub native to Tropical Asia. It is known for its sweet-scented white star-like flowers, which bloom nearly year-round, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden.

This plant is adaptable to various soil types as long as it is not waterlogged and can tolerate full sun to semi-shade conditions. It is also salt-tolerant, making it a great choice for seaside gardens. The shrub can grow to be 5-10 ft tall and just as wide, appearing as an open, spreading, and weeping mound. Its stems and leaves are covered in a downy pubescence that gives it a grayish-green appearance. The ovate leaves are rounded at the base and are opposite each other on the stem.

Jasminum multiflorum is easy to care for and can be grown in USDA Zones 9-11. When grown in pots, it is important to use a container with drainage holes and quality potting soil. In cold regions, it should be treated as an annual or brought indoors during winter. If grown indoors, it should be placed in a well-lit location and watered only when the soil is almost dry. Fertilize regularly with a balanced fertilizer throughout the summer and stop when the plant enters its dormant stage.
