Grown in USDA Zone 9-11, Iochroma cyaneum can grow up to 5 to 10 feet tall and wide. It has an incredibly attractive display of white, off-white, blue, lavender, and purple flowers that bloom all summer and into autumn. Not only does this plant bring bursts of color to the garden, but it is also a great pollinator attractant, offering nourishment to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Iochroma cyaneum is native to South America, and care requirements differ depending on the climate. In climates with mild winters and hot summers, such as in USDA Zone 9-11, Iochroma cyaneum can be planted in full sun to partial shade. If planted outdoors, it requires regular waterings and should be planted in well-draining soil. In cold climates, the plant can be containerized and grown indoors. In both conditions, the plant requires fertilizer in the spring to promote healthy growth.

When grown indoors, it should be placed in a spot with plenty of light, such as near a window. It should be watered regularly and allowed to drain, as stagnant moisture can lead to root rot. During the winter, it is best to keep the plant on the drier side. Fertilize it every 2-4 weeks with a balanced fertilizer to keep it looking its best. Iochroma cyaneum is a beautiful plant that can bring a colorful display to any space with the right care and maintenance.
