Plants are found growing in the dense forest of the Himalayas, Bhutan, Sikkim, Myanmar, northern Thailand, southern China, northern Laos and Vietnam at elevations of 800 to 1400 meters.

Plants are best grown hanging in baskets or mounted and usually require moderate shade and warm temperatures.
