The Chinese Crown Orchid (Eulophia graminea) is a small shrub with an upright growth habit, typically reaching between 2 and 5 feet in height and width. The leaves are large, dark green, and leathery in texture. The flowers, which bloom in summer, are yellow or orange in color, and have a long, slim, floral tube that flares out at the end. As a vigorous grower, this orchid should be planted in full sun or semi-shade and watered regularly. In hot and arid climates, this orchid should be watered moderately, while in cooler climates, an increased level of moisture is recommended.

Eulophia graminea is known to be an invasive species in some areas. Although its growth habit and form are quite attractive, its tendency to spread rapidly should be taken into consideration when planting. It grows well ion USDA Zone 9-11. In cold regions, containerized specimens should be brought indoors for the winter months, and should be watered regularly and kept in a cool and shaded area. In the spring, the container should be brought back outdoors. Though its flowers need full sun to develop properly, the roots should be shaded and protected from direct sun exposure.
