Mangifera indica 'Wise' (Wise Mango) - Image 11

Wise is a classic South Florida mango with roots going back to the post-1930s boom in mango breeding. Originating in the Miami area, it is one of those lesser-known cultivars that quietly stood out for its excellent eating quality but gradually faded from commercial production over time. Today, it is considered a lost or rare variety worth rediscovering.
The fruit is medium-sized and nearly round, with smooth skin and attractive coloration when ripe. Inside, the flesh is yellow, juicy, and very low in fiber-often completely fiberless. The flavor is sweet, rich, and well-balanced, offering a classic tropical mango taste that appeals to both new and experienced mango lovers.
Wise trees are vigorous growers with a productive habit under Florida conditions. They perform well in warm climates and are suitable for dooryard planting where space allows. Like many traditional Florida mangoes, they reward growers with dependable crops and quality fruit when given full sun and proper care.
A great choice for collectors and enthusiasts looking to bring back a rare piece of Florida mango history - without sacrificing flavor.
