Spines on the trunk are a defense system in habitat and can be eight inches long. Has very stiff leaves which could almost be used as a weapon. Its leaves are quite blue in color and stiff as sheet metal. Surely this palm has the stiffest leaves of any!

That will grow in a wide range of climates, tolerating both desert heat and intense cold.
