Native to East Malaysia, this species reaches a height of 10 to 20 feet and produces masses of pink and white or off-white flowers. Nam Nam is a statement tree with its impressive ornamental foliage and large canopy.

In terms of care, Nam Nam prefers full sun and moderately moist soil. However, established plants can handle dry spells. When watering also keep in mind that it should be done deep and infrequent like once a week during the summer months. During the winter, it is better to slightly reduce this frequency of water. It is best to wait until the top layer of soil is dry to the touch before proceeding with watering. Moreover, a little bit of fertilizer during the late months of spring can help with growth and fruit production.

When growing in a pot, Nam Nam can be grown in USDA Zones 9-11. To ensure best results, choose a large pot and amend the soil with organic compost; a dose of slow-release fertilizer in the beginning of summer and fall should also be added. It is also essential to bring the potted Nam Nam inside for overwintering to protect it from cold temperatures. While indoors, make sure to keep the plant sunny and warm, moist and out of extreme temperatures. During the summertime, you can keep the plant inside or outside, but keep in mind that it should be accustomed to indoors before switching it to outdoors.
