| Murraya paniculata Family: Rutaceae Orange Jasmine, Orange Jessamine, Mock Orange, Lakeview Jasmine, Chinese Cosmetic Boxwood Origin: India ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A member of the Orange family, this is one of the most often used shrubs in tropical gardens, and for good reasons. It has attractive, glossy green foliage, tolerates most conditions, and regularly produces clusters of small but strongly scented white flowers, followed by small, bright red fruit. Murraya makes an excellent hedge or screening plant, becoming in time a small tree up to 12 Ft tall, or it can be clipped into formal shapes, though this will reduce the number of flowers. In Southeast Asia, the most profuse flowers occur during the rainy season. It prefers full sun but will grow in part shade, in almost any kind of soil. It also does well as a pot plant in greenhouses. |
