Jambolan, Java Plum - Jambolan has fragrant white flowers in branched clusters at stem tips and purplish-black oval edible berries. Jambolans of good size and quality, having a sweet or subacid flavor and a minimum of astringency, are eaten raw and may be made into tarts, sauces and jam. The jambolan has received recognition in folk medicine and in the pharmaceutical trade. The seeds, leaves and bark are also used in various alternative healing systems like Ayurveda and Chinese medicine. According to Hindu tradition, Rama subsisted on the fruit in the forest for 14 years during his exile from Ayodhya. Because of this, many Hindus regard Jambul as a "fruit of the gods". In Hindu mythology Lord Krishna has been described as having skin the color of Jambul. The leaves are used in India as marriage pendals.
The tree is very vigorous, bushy and full, and can be also used as a fast growing ornamental, creating a dense privacy screen in just a couple of seasons.

Wax Jamboo, Wax Jambu, Java Apple. Green fruit variety. Juicy, sweet and crunchy. Fruit is thin-skinned, shiny, pear shaped with long neck. Flesh is white-green, mildly fragrant, juicy, and sweet. Kenaf, Salad Hibiscus, Sleepy Hibiscus. The name applies to the fibre obtained from this plant. Kenaf is one of the allied fibres of jute and shows similar characteristics. Kenaf is cultivated for its fibre in India, Bangladesh, United States of America, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Viet Nam, Thailand, parts of Africa, and to a small extent in southeast Europe. The stems produce two types of fibre, a coarser fibre in the outer layer (bast fibre), and a finer fibre in the core. It matures in 100 to 200 days. Kenaf was grown in Egypt over 3000 years ago. The kenaf leaves were consumed in human and animal diets. The main uses of kenaf fibre have been rope, twine, coarse cloth (similar to that made from jute), and paper. Kenaf seeds yield an edible vegetable oil. The kenaf seed oil is also used for cosmetics, industrial lubricants and for biofuel production. The use of kenaf in paper production offers various environmental advantages over producing paper from trees.

Chocolate tree, Cacao. This beautiful tree has large dark green leaves that shade the fruit pods which grow directly from the trunk and branches. The flesh is eaten as a dessert, and the seeds are the raw material of chocolate. Hot chocolate can be made by drying the seeds, roasting, grinding, and adding milk. This is very exciting plant, but it requires a great care when growing indoors.

Swiss cheese plant. A jungle climbing relative of the philodendron from Mexico and Guatemala. It is seen in gardens in tropical and subtropical areas, growing well in partial sun or shade. The plant begins bearing after three years. The large deep green, cone-like fruit is actually an unripened flower spike, covered with hexagonal scales that dry out and separate as the fruit ripens from the base upwards, revealing the white pulp. It takes a little longer than a year to mature to an edible stage.

Yellow Jade Vine - a high-climbing woody vine species native to rain forests of Central and South America. The long, rope-like stalk hangs below the forest canopy where night-flying bats can easily access the fragrant lemon-yellow blossoms. The name Brown Hamburger Bean is because of the beautiful seeds (looking like little hamburgers) that are often collected and polished by natives and made into lovely necklaces, bracelets and other handicraft items. Related to red Jade vine (Mucuna bennettii).
