Ornamental shade tree. The fern-like leaves with silvery undersides are partly shed just before the branches are almost hidden by the masses of long, gold-yellow blooms which appear in the late spring. Moderate frost hardy. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and birds. Has long been valued for its beautiful timber, used for furniture making. Drought-tolerant; suitable for xeriscaping. Average water, needs watering on a regular basis but do not overwater. Handling plant may cause skin irritation or allergic reaction.

Silky Oak from Australia. Ornamental shade tree. The fern-like leaves with silvery undersides are partly shed just before the branches are almost hidden by the masses of long, gold-yellow blooms which appear in the late spring. Moderate frost hardy. Drought-tolerant; suitable for xeriscaping.
The soil for seeds must be well draining. If you are using a soil mix be sure to add sand to it. Plant the seeds at 1/2" depth and moisten. Thereafter do not water until the soil is dry to the touch. Provide filtered sunlight. When seedlings have emerged you may slowly introduce them to brighter light.
