Trachelospermum jasminoides (Confederate Jasmine) is a unique and captivating species of flowering plant native to Eastern India and widely found in China, Japan and other regions in Asia. This evergreen climber or creeper produces glossy dark green foliage and small clusters of fragrant, off-white curly petals that bloom from spring to fall. It's an ideal plant for bonsai and can be grown as a low-growing groundcover, reaching a maximum height of two feet, or a vine on trellises, fences, or posts.

Though it's best planted in full sun to semi-shade, Trachelospermum jasminoides is also capable of tolerating coastal regions and various soil types, making it an extremely durable and versatile species. To help this plant reach its full potential, it should be given regular watering and supported with some fertilizing throughout the growing season.

When mature, Trachelospermum jasminoides is also surprisingly cold hardy, and can survive temperatures down to as low as the low-20s degree Fahrenheit (F) for a short time. This makes it suitable for growing throughout the USDA Zones 8-10. When growing in colder regions, it's best to plant the species in a pot and keep the roots sheltered and insulated.

Overall, Trachelospermum jasminoides is an attractive and hardy species with a pleasant fragrance and visual appeal. Adding it to your garden or patio is sure to bring a touch of beauty to your outdoor space.
