Arched then completely pendant flat tapeworm stems turn deep violet red in high light; tiny flowers followed by ornamental shell berries lining both edges of the ribbon stems most attractively.

Related species: Rhipsalis purpusii Wgt. (Guatemala), Rh. platycarpa (Zucc.) Pfeiff. (Brazil), Rh. goebeliana.
