Oh, what unhappy twist of fate
Has brought you homeless to my gate?
The gate where once another stood
To beg for shelter, warmth and food .
For from that day I ceased to be
The master of my destiny.
While he, with purr and velvet paw
Became within my house, the law.
He scratched the furniture and shed
And claimed the middle of my bed.
He ruled in arrogance and pride
And broke my heart the day he died.
So if you really think, oh Cat,
I'd willingly relive all that
Because you come, forlorn and thin,
Well... don't just stand there... Come on in.
Pets are our babies. Cats are Little People: Loving, independent and very intelligent. They are People-Cats!
Unfortunately, with the increasing number of home foreclosures and people losing their jobs every day, people are forced to rehome their beloved pets. However, many Rescue Groups, Humane Societies and Animal Shelters are already overcrowded, with a 6 month waiting list for owners to surrender their pets.
Tragically, many pets are ultimately abandoned and tossed out in the streets, especially cats. Homeless cats live a very scary, lonely, unhealthy, dangerous, and short life. They spend their lives always searching for food, water to drink, safe places to sleep, cool places to escape the horrendous Florida heat, places to stay dry in the rain, hiding from prey, running from cruel people, and suffer from preventable illness. In addition, if not spayed/neutered, they'll produce kittens throughout their lifetime, which will share the horrible lives of their mother, and often die within 2 months.
If you're unable to rescue a cat by adopting, we urge you to at least contact us or your local Rescue Groups. Our mission is to assisting you with finding FREE or low cost spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and other needed vet care, then help these wonderful creatures find their deserving forever homes.
