Genus of about 130 species. Perennial in character, but generally treated as an annual. Grown indoors or out for its bright flowers and ornamental, fleshy foliage. Hybrids are available in colors yellow, orange, red, pink, purple and variant of these. Flowers are produced in small clusters and are tubular in shape. Avoid using cold water when watering plants, this will shock the plant. Allow to dry between waterings. Remove flower stalks after flowering.
