| Clarkia amoena, Godetia amoena Family: Onagraceae Farewell-to-Spring, Godetia, Atlasflower Origin: North America ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Clarkia amoena is an erect or sprawling annual with showy, 4-petaled, cup-shaped, pink flowers occuring in the axils of several of the uppermost leaves. The large flowers are highlighted with a splash of bright red on each petal. Grows quickly, blooms heavily, dies with first frost. Can regrow following spring if seed falls on bare ground. This delicate annual grows well in sandy or clay soil and also tolerates salt spray and alkaline soil surprisingly well. Clarkia amoena also tolerates seaside conditions. |
