RARE COLLECTIBLE VARIETY, the very first offering of a new Top Tropicals introduction! This is a distinct form of B. tomentosa, originating from a tree in a garden in Natal, South Africa. Its distinction is due to having smaller leaves, larger flowers turning from yellow to purple as they mature, sometimes with 2 black spots in the center! Much more naturally intricately branching habit than the typical form. Especially good for containers and small gardens because of its more compact form. Flowering typically begins in May and continues through November, into December. An especially wonderful form of an already wonderful little tree. Drought tolerant, prefers dry sites.
