Wim lives in Holland - the beautiful country that is also famous with it's tropical foliage export. He was looking for a very special variety of Iresine Herbstii that he couldn't find in his country. We are glad that we were able to help him and to make his dream come true! Thank you, Wim, for you nice letter to us and we wish you all the good luck with your new "pet" plant!

Yesterday was the Big day!!! The plant arrived in Holland. I’m really very glad with it. I made some pictures for you, so you can see that it arrived in Holland. I am very glad that you sent so many cuttings (6). Three of them I have planted in a pot and three of them I put in a glass of water so they can grow more roots.

So Iresine Herbstii is back in Holland. I hope it will grow fast, so I can take cuttings and give them away to friends an family who also have plants for their hobby. So I can be sure that this plant is going to stay in Holland and won’t disappear again.

I can’t tell you how happy I am with it. I have tried three years long to get it in Holland and I couldn’t find it. Thank you again and I am taking good care for the plant.

Wim discovers more varieties!
(recent news from Wim)

"... You know I was searching a very long time for Iresine Herbstii and thanks to you I have this plant now.

And I’m so glad with it and I love this plant so much that I would like to have the other variety’s also. But these are also not for sale in the Netherlands.

In my search I have called and e-mailed all nurseries I know in the Netherlands and there was one person (an older man) who says that Iresine wasn’t for sale any longer in Holland because the nurseries couldn’t earn money with this plant.

He also told me that he knows there is a rest home for old military men who had a fight direct after World War Two in Indonesia for Holland. And he said that they for years ago had a nursery and had Iresine Herbstii. He gave me the telephone number.

I called this number an asked for the gardener. He told me that he has some variety’s of Iresine. And said that I could get one of each variety.

So last Saturday I went to Arnhem (the place where the rest house stays) about 1 hour driving from my home.

And…… I get 4 variety’s of Iresine. The green one, a red one with pointed leafs, the one they call Lindenii (I think) and one I don’t know and haven’t seen on internet.

But he hasn’t the one you sent me.

So one moment I have nothing and the other moment I have 5 variety’s of Iresine.

You can imagine how glad I am…"
