The Tuberose grows in elongated spikes up to 45 cm long that produce clusters of fragrant waxy white flowers that bloom from the bottom towards the top of the spike. It has long, bright green leaves clustered at the base of the plant and smaller, clasping leaves along the stem.
Long-lasting as a cut flower in water. Most flowers begin to lose their scent when they are picked. Not so with tuberose, like jasmine, the heady floral scent continues to produce itself. In Ayurvedic medicine, attars are held in high esteem not only for their exquisite fragrance but their healing properties. Tuberose is known to improve one's capacity for emotional depth.

Jazmin de embarcadero, Needle flower tree. Small tree with large glossy dark green leaves and long cascading flowers that are extremely fragrant. Very exotic look!

Tree Jasmine, Radermachera Elmeri. Tropical tree small to medium size, with fragrant tubular flowers, similar to Radermachera Kunming, but bigger, with similar leaf structure; it is more fast growing and vigorous. The scent resembles roses, juicy fruit, candies, fine cologne all together and can be smelled from many yards away. Leaves are very ornamental and have a fountain-like architecture. In Thailand, the tree symbolizes simplicity, endurance, advancement, and peacefulness. Extract from these flowers is used in village pharmacy as relaxant and aphrodisiac.

A showy tropical perennial, this plant is very rare in private collections. It grows in jungles of Peru and prefers humid environment with filtered light. Flowers are blood red and resemble a feather. Attracts hummingbirds.

Spectacular, large-flower variety that flowers twice a season, 'New Deal' is a remarkable "Christmas cactus" hybrid, completely lost to the trade today, which is being offered here for the first time after it was originally offered for purchase at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden over 80 years ago. That institution was having a special rare plant sale on the day of the famous presidential election on November 8, 1932, when F.D.R. was historically voted in as the next American president. Not only is New Deal an exceptionally obscure, heirloom cultivar especially easy to grow under average house plant conditions, it reliably produces almost an overabundance of brilliant violet-pink and white flowers which are easily an inch larger than any other variety. The plants we are offering are all 3rd generation vegetative propagation from an original specimen (still alive btw). Its name is identical to President Franklin D. Roosevel main campaign slogan.

Mauve-blue, unusually lipped flowers are lightly lavender-fragrant! They create a pretty floral display on this shade-loving shrub with its attractive glossy green foliage. Flowers are mauve-blue to purple and the lower petals are ribbed, giving the impression of lips, hence the common name. Five fringed lobes, equal in size, short and rounded, are the flowers distinguishing feature. The numerous flowers produced in summer are attractive to pollinating insects which encourage insect-feeding birds into the garden.
Due to its fast-growing nature, suitability to shady conditions and unusual floral display this species has great horticultural value. It is best to grow it in a shaded to semi-shaded area of the garden.

VERY RARE! White Bat Head Lily, Bat Flower, Devil Flower, White Tacca. Curious, bat-like maroon-black inflorescence both in shape and color, with wide spreading, wing-like white bracts, accompanied by long trailing filaments or "whiskers". The small black flowers are succeeded by heavy berries, corrugated olive-green leaves with oblique base. These are interesting, evergreen, perennial and herbaceous plants that grow wild in many tropical climates. They can be grown in humid, tropical greenhouses

Glory bush, Quaresmeira. Large shrub or small tree with branching habit and huge velvet fuzzy leaves up to 10" in diameter, nice to touch, tend to turn orange/red at the lower part of the trunk. Spikes of purple flowers. A striking plant! Can be grown in both sun or shade. In shade the leaves grow up to 1 ft in diameter.

Mickey Mouse Taro, Mighty Mouse. This curious variety of elephant ear is a must for every rare plant collection. Unusually variegated Aroid, it has irregularly margined leaves which when first opening, its edges are a cream yellow, later turning white, and often swirled. A show stopper! This plant is thought to be a mutation of a species. Most think it is a form of atrovirens or even a possible hybrid. The leaves are never identical most are streaked with large blotches of white on dark blue green leaves. One of the most odd features of the plant is the fact that most leaves will develop a small cup like pocket at the leaf tip and sometimes a small string like structure will form. Plants usually grow with leaves held horizontally. It is always a conversation piece in the garden. Mighty Mouse can reach 3-4 ft at full maturity making it a wonderful addition to your jungle. Plants produce tubers and can be wintered in either in a greenhouse or cool storage.
