Very rare, collectible and extinct species! This plant propagated at TopTropicals nursery from Robert Riefer's unique specimen, the biggest potted specimen in the World grown in 100 gal pot, originated in 1927, awarded in 2011 with CHM certificate of Horticultural Merit by American Orchid Society. Leafless Vanilla Orchid is amazing exotic vanilla that forms a multi-branched, leafless vine reaching lengths up to 15 ft. The light green flowers are similar to Vanilla barbellata but the petals and sepals are longer and the fluted lip is a deep reddish-purple with a yellow crest. Vanilla dilloniana is distributed throughout the West Indies and had been reported on the banks of the Miami River in South Florida.
Vanilla dilloniana is a very rare species and considered vulnerable, endangered across its range. Pieces of plants from the original colony have been shared and may be found in local collections.

This is a rare hybrid possibly with A. scabra (panamensis) that has bright red flowers, quite unique flowering plant from S America. Like all aphelandras, it has showy flowers that are loved by hummingbirds. The flower up to 2 inch long, tubular. They are 2-lipped, fuzzy and they bloom for one day before wilting. Inflorescence is candle-like and the prepubescent flower spikes can grow up to 6 inch in height. The inflorescence has overlapping green bracts that are tinged with yellow and orange and they have extrafloral nectaries. Each day only one or two flowers open along the inflorescence to prevent self-pollination.
It is a great addition to a collectible tropical butterfly garden. Can grow into 4-5" tall bushy specimen. Blooms sporadically during warm season. Tolerates both full sun or filtered light.

This rare plant is one of the most spectacular Orchid trees in cultivation. Flowers and extremely showy, look like scarlet butterflies with bright yellow stripes at the base of each petal. Bay Rum is a small sized tree related to the Allspice, with leaves containing and aromatic oil that somewhat resembles clove oil. This essential oil is distilled from the leaves and is used in perfumes. A type of cologne named 'Bay Rum' was historically made in the early 20th century by distilling the oil using rum and water, hence the common name of the plant. Easter Lily Vine, Heralds Trumpet, Nepal Trumpet Flower. One of the most impressive climbing plants - woody vine with large fragrant white flowers resembling lilies, and lush tropical foliage. The flowers of this species are cup-like, shorter than B. grandiflora, but the B. murtonii is more profuse bloomer.

Rose of Venezuela, Scarlet Flame Bean - small compact tree with spectacular red flowers.
This tropical American native occurs in Colombia and Venezuela, though it is widely grown in other tropical regions worldwide. A true tropical, it requires a frost-free environment with high air humidity. Assuming you can provide the tropical conditions, the species grows into a nice medium size tree 20-25 ft (smaller in containers), with dense umbrella-like canopy, spreading 15-20 ft wide.

Rare and hard to find species, with the largest wavy shaped flowers, Brunfelsia plicata (jamaicensis) is a fast-growing, small, erect, delightfully fragrant flowering shrub endemic to Jamaica. The sturdy, dark green leaves make a good background for the showy flowers. The creamy white flowers with long tubes and wavy margins are extremely fragrant after dark. Blooms fall to winter. It's a specimen plant. Perfect houseplant for a bright window.

A dwarf ginger that is hard to find, but well worth it. Intermittently throughout the year, bright golden-orange cones will appear above the glossy dark green, maroon-backed leaves. Individual flowers will open and last for a period of about two weeks during each bloom cycle. Has a very upright growth habit. An excellent indoor plant, it should be kept out of direct sunlight as this will scorch the leaves, and should be kept in a container even outdoors, as they are very cold-tender and must be brought inside in the fall. When repotting, take care that only the roots are burried in the soil or potting medium, as it is a bit of an epiphyte (air plant) and the rhyzome must remain above ground level.

Flame of the Forest - a stunning small tree from India, Sri Lanka with spectacular clusters of red flowers. Very slow growing. The trunk is very interesting, it becomes twisted, follows no particular pattern, making it a conversation piece. At the base it can form a bottle-like caudex if grown in a pot.
This tree drops leaves in late spring and starts re-leafing around end of June (in Florida).

An exceptionally distinct pepper, it is likely an ancient hybrid of Capsicum annuum (bird pepper) and Capsicum chinense (habanero group).
While of small size (something around an inch or so long), these oddly shaped bright orange to finally red fruits are prolifically produced along the branches of compact plants with small leaves.
What separates this variety from others is its unique flavor which packs quite a bang! Not because of its heat (because our strain has either no heat what-so-ever, or so little it is hard to even detect), but because of its intense fruity habanero flavor.

Wiri Wiri Pepper. A variety from Guyana, the Wiri Wiri pepper is the illustrious gem; hard sought and rarely found. This plant produces good yields of small 1/2" berry shaped hot peppers. Peppers grow upright, are very hot, and turn from green, to orange, to red when mature.

Pink Butterfly Bush - rare new plant in cultivation originated from South Africa. It is very similar to more common species Clerodendrum ugadense (Blue butterfly bush) other than color and smaller size of the flowers which are in tighter panicles.

Clinacanthus nutans, or Phaya-Yor in Thai, has been traditionally used in Thailand for the treatment of Herpes infections. In addition this herb also exhibits an excellent and rapid-acting anti-inflammatory activity which makes Clinacanthus nutans topical product a good natural product for the relief of minor skin inflammation and insect bites well.

Cannon ball Tree. Rare tree with a bizarre fruit that can be seen only in tropical botanic gardens and a few larger private gardens. It is a very tall tree which sheds its large, elliptical leaves several times a year. The pinkish-red flowers grow directly from the trunk near the base of the crown and are strongly scented in the evening. Blooms year round. Flowers are followed by large, globular fruit, reddish-brown in color, which do indeed resemble cannonballs and remain on the tree for many months. On older trees there may be dozens of fruits and flower clusters at the same time.

Ylang Ylang shrub. Not everybody can grow Cananga odorata, Ylang-Ylang Tree - fast growing and pretty big. With the Desmos chinensis, a small relative you get that intense fragrance but in a plant that can be kept around 3 to 4 feet. It is a better choice for those with limited space.
This plant is seasonally sensitive: during cooler months leaves may drop or get yellow/dark spots. New leaves will regrow with warm temperatures (over 80F).

Elaeocarpus decipiens (Japanese Blueberry) is a large evergreen shrub with glossy green foliage easily trimmed into a tree form. It's an excellent privacy screen choice. Showy fragrant blooms from summer to fall are followed by black berries in late fall-winter. Very ornamental effect from older leaves, which turn bright red. Tolerant of poor soils and desert sun and heat.

Yellow Grumichama - rare variety with yellow fruit. This compact tree has beautiful glossy green leaves up to 3-4 inches long and one to two inches wide, with leathery texture, and the new growth is a wine reddish color before it matures. Fruits follow quickly in about four weeks after flowering. They are about one inch or larger, with large seeds and excellent melting flesh that has almost the flavor of a northern cherry. Eaten fresh and used in jelly. The Grumichama makes an excellent container plant and will fruit quite nicely in a five to ten gallon-size container.

Snows of Kilimanjaro, Pascuita, Snowflake Tree. Rare unusual shrub with tiny small leaves (decorative white bracts), white on top, reminding popular Poincettia. Unlike many other euphorbias, this plant is fragrant. When it is in bloom, the air around is filled with a sweet pleasant smell. Attracts butterflies.
This plant completely loses leaves for winter, re-leafs in spring.

Glory Vine - A rare, vigorous twining climber with large, shiny, bright green leaves and beautiful fragrant white flowers in large terminal clusters with fragrance of carnations.

Rheedia edulis, Lemon Drop Mangosteen, Cherry Mangosteen. Small yellow fruit about an inch or two around. The pulp is translucent to white in color, with a madruno-like flavor. Eaten fresh. Close related species - Garcinia livingstonei (Imbe).

Native to Brazil, this rare tropical plant has bright red flowers that uniquely emerge directly from the stem. Relatively cold hardy, it can be planted in-ground, preferring shade or filtered light. Also grows well in a container. This evergreen shrub is an attractive plant for shady areas, with unusual color and shape.

Rare variety of Tropical Guava from Indonesia. Round fruit with white flesh.

Kilo White Guava. The fruit is very large (up to a kilogramm, hence the variety name), round, contains few seeds, and has soft white flesh when ripe. Guava is a good tropical fruit tree not fussy on the soil quality, and produces fruit year after year. It is relatively cold hardy. Requires regular watering. Great container plant, will fruit in a pot in small size.
