Euphorbia punicea - Jamaican Poinsettia

Small tree 10-20 ftFull sunModerate waterRed/crimson/vinous flowersIrritatingSeaside, salt tolerant plant

Absolutely gorgeous! A true Holiday plant, Jamaican Poinsettia one of our favorites. Rather slow growing, with a compact habit; flowers are spectacular (those are actually bright red bracts). Most profuse flowering is during Holiday season, then Spring, then sporadic blooms throughout the year. This pretty, evergreen, succulent small tree has high drought tolerance and can be treated like plumeria, however it is evergreen and much smaller size. Perfect specimen plant, great for a small sunny space in your garden, or container. We believe that everybody should have one!

Cute yellow bell-likr flowers! If you want yellow to get involved in the design, then you've got to add Bahama firebush. Similar in growth to the scarlet-flowered one, you can keep it trimmed below seven feet. Large leaves make it good for screening. Don't hedge it; trim it naturally, and it will flower much more. Ligustrum Jack Frost is a very striking evergreen shrub that makes a wonderful hedge and looks equally as nice all by itself as an accent planting. Shiny, leathery green leaves have creamy white edges, providing an excellent contrast to any landscape. In late spring and early summer, it puts out clusters of small, white flowers very similar to those of its ancestor, the Japanese Privet. Following the spring bloom, berries persist through the summer and attract birds. Moderate growth, takes either full sun or part shade. A very versatile landscape plant for hedges, foundation plantings, topiary or screens. Hard to beat for adding form, adaptability and color contrast to the landscape. It is disease resistant and grows well in a wide variety of soil types and climates. With a full and upright form, it makes an ideal mid-size hedge but is extremely versatile and can also be planted by itself as an accent and foundation planting. Mature specimen tend to take on a more golden yellow color as the leaves mature. It adds bulk to the landscape when desired while adding great color to the landscape. Pruning is recommended 2-3 times per year to maintain desired shape.

Mimosa pudica (strigillosa) - Sensitive Plant

Groundcover and low-growing 2ftFull sunSemi-shadeRegular waterPink flowersAttracts butterflies, hummingbirds

Sensitive Plant. It is a fun plant to grow. The leaves fold up when touched. If touched with a bit more force, the petioles will also bend at their pulvinis and the leaves droop. These movements are called seismonastic movements (reaction to physical shock). At night, the leaves will also fold and bend in movements known as nyctonastic movements (reaction to absence of light). It is a wonderful groundcover, can integrate with grass and pink powderpuff flowers stick out of grass - very showy! Can be mowed over with no damage to established plants.
Close related to Mimosa pudica - Mimosa strigillosa, very similar looking. It is also sensitive to touch but the growth
habit is prostrate and the leaf arrangement is not palmate. The leaves of Mimosa pudica are palmate. We carry both species, mixed variety.
